The City of Ammon is hiring a Code Enforcement/Animal Control Officer. Starting wage is $20.39 per hour depending on experience. The position is full-time with benefits.
The principal functions of this position are to provide animal control, welfare, and safety services and to enforce City animal licensing and control and other City ordinances. This position requires effective public relations and communications skills. This employee performs as a one-person department. The work is performed under the general direction of the City Administrator. The principal duties are performed outdoors and may include working in adverse weather conditions, and exposure to domestic and wild animals. The Code Enforcement Officer prepares the annual department budget, coordinates payments to Bonneville County Sheriff’s Department, works with local law enforcement personnel, and monitors contracts for the animal shelter, and other management responsibilities.
Code enforcement experience in a municipality is preferred; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this job. Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a background check required for peace officers.
