Firefighter
FIREFIGHTER - The City of Monroe is now accepting applications for the position of full-time Firefighter to perform specialized firefighting, rescue, emergency medical and hazardous materials response work. Prefer certification, knowledge and/or work experience in firefighting, rescue, emergency medical, and hazardous materials. Requires the ability to learn fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical, and hazardous materials response techniques. High school diploma or GED required. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must be of good moral character and must be 18 years of age. Must meet and obtain all departmental training and certification requirements for the position. Work schedule consists of a 24-hour rotating shift including holidays, weekends, and nights. A 30-mile living residency from the main station is required if hired. Starting salary is $39,720 annually. The ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
Applicants must complete an entry level Firefighter written examination. Examinations are scheduled at the Monroe Fire Station #4, Community Room, 3907 Old Charlotte Highway, Monroe, NC 28110 for Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. or on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at 9:00 a.m. Please schedule one day for testing when completing your online application.
