Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development
The Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development serves on the President's Executive Council and is responsible for providing oversight and leadership for the College's Economic and Workforce Development Division, which includes the BioNetwork Learning Solutions Center, Community Education, Corporate Education, Basic Skills/Human Resources Development, and the Small Business Center. Collaborates with the Academic Affairs Division to provide continuing education courses related to Public Safety and Health & Human Services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for strategic planning in developing, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring programs and enrollments for economic and workforce development.
- Overall responsibility for the administration of the College's registered apprenticeship program(s) including recruitment of new member companies, maintenance of productive relationships with current member companies, workforce development boards, and K-12 in the development of career pathways leading to apprenticeship.
- In conjunction with the Division Directors, assures compliance with NCCCS, SACS, and applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines for worker retraining.
- Assumes an active role in local community outreach and maintains contact with local leaders to develop long-range programs that meet economic and workforce needs.
- Promotes the connection between education and the economy by developing and maintaining close working relationships with the state and local business community, schools, higher education, and workforce/economic development agencies.
- Provides leadership at the local, state, and national levels by participating in NCCCS-supported, regional and national workforce-related workshops, conferences, and initiatives, and by serving on boards and committees as requested.
- Acts as the College's liaison to and works collaboratively with NCCCS leadership in the administration and support of the BioNetwork Learning Solutions Center.
- Ensures that College programs address all workforce and community needs, including apprenticeships, literacy, basic skills training, job skills training, professional development, workforce certifications, personal enrichment programs, and continuing education courses related to Public Safety and Health & Human Services.
- Works collaboratively with other College program areas to identify external sources of funding and serves as a consultant to provide administrative support on special grant initiatives.
- Promotes quality programming through research and implementation of best-practice strategies and promising education and workforce preparation programs that can be replicated at the local level.
- Seeks recognition of excellence in programming by submitting nominations for state and national awards sponsored by the NCCCS, U. S. Department of Labor, American Association of Community Colleges, etc.
- Expands knowledge and application of new technologies and innovative methods that successfully assist business and industry to ensure quality education for the changing workforce environment.
- Directs comprehensive needs analysis surveys and program evaluations to ensure the best possible programs and sources are developed and offered throughout the service area.
- Continues to develop and implement new workforce development programs and apprenticeships based on regional community and workforce needs for ultimate benefit within the College service area.
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work herein described.
MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:

Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution required.

Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited institution preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

At least 5 years of high-level administrative/management experience required.

Higher education and/or relevant industry experience preferred.
