Building OfficalTown of Jackson
Position works under the general direction of the Planning and Building Director and also coordinates a Town and County contractor licensing program working with an appointed Board of Examiners. Position manages a full time Building Inspector and Development Coordinator and is responsible for interpretation, enforcement and application of all codes enacted by the Town Council relating to buildings and construction and provides professional analysis and comprehensive building plan reviews.
Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge is qualifying. Typical qualifications include: BS degree in engineering, architecture or related field, two (2) years experience as a building inspector, five (5) years journey level experience in the building trade, and ICC or ICBO certifications in building, mechanical, and/or plumbing inspection. Plans Examiner and Building Official certifications preferred. Building Official certification is required within one year of hire.
The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of building inspection services and operations, including significant knowledge of the building code and innovations in the construction industry.
