Salary Range: Pay is commensurate with qualifications and experience, combined with an excellent benefits package.
Major Duties
Coordinate all events and cultural enrichment programming for the TRiO Student Success Program.
Plan and conduct weekly meetings with Program Mentors.
Teach First Year Seminar (FYE 2100) a fall two credit course which focuses on campus acclimation, study skills, learning styles, time and money management, research basics, service learning, environmental consciousness, and healthy lifestyles.
Provide comprehensive student support services to a caseload of new and returning SSP students including academic advising, referrals, and tutoring resources.
Coordinate the mentor training component of Student Support Services. Oversee the mentor leadership three-level certificate program. Identify challenges and develop plans for meeting student needs.
Select, train, and supervise program mentors who provide mentoring services.
Teach UNIV 1020 in the spring semester, a one-credit class focused on teaching students cover letter and resume development, Interview preparation, major selection, and networking skills.
Monitor expenditures to ensure adherence to budget.
Schedule training sessions, evaluates job performance, and resolves conflict and personnel issues.
Collaborate and build relationships with community partners for campus events.
Minimum Qualifications
An earned bachelor's degree, from an accredited institution, in related field.
One year of relevant experience in student development program(s).
Knowledge of study techniques and student learning styles.
Supervisory skills in the context of student development theory.
Event planning experience.
Desired Qualifications
Three or more years of relevant experience.
An earned master's degree, from an accredited institution in related field.
Experience working with low-income, first generation students, and students with disabilities, preferably in a higher education setting.
Knowledge of WMU advising practices.
Experience with software programs such as Banner, and GoWMU.
